Bike Hike September 2009
On 1st September, before the new term had even started, 7 Scouts and four adults took part in a bike hike. Starting from the coach park at the top of Castle Hill, we followed national cycle route number 1 over Langdon Cliffs through St. Margaret’s, Kingsdown, Walmer and Deal to Sandwich, where we stopped for lunch on the green by the quay.
The return leg followed regional route 15 through Eastry, Tilmanstone and Waldershare to finish at Whitfield village hall. The weather was cloudy and, thankfully, not too hot, but we were caught in a couple of heavy rain showers in the afternoon. The total distance of 40 kilometres, enough to count towards the Cyclist Badge, was completed in exactly 6 hours.
